Continuous Opening for Part-time Firefighter / EMTs and Single Role EMTs
We are looking to hire part-time firefighter / EMTs and single role EMTs for part-time staffing to fill one of our shifts and backfill our full-time staff for sick, vacation, and other unfilled shifts.
Welcome To Garfield County Fire District 1
Garfield County Fire District 1 provides service to the City of Pomeroy and Garfield County, Washington. We provide ambulance and rescue service to all 718 square miles of Garfield County. Additionally, we provide fire protection service (structural and wildland) to over 530 square miles of the county, as well as having mutual aid agreements with our neighboring fire districts and Washington Department of Natural Resources.
Fire, rescue, and ambulance service is provided primarily by our 30 volunteers and supplemented by our three career staff. Volunteers give their time to responds to calls, train, and sign up for on-call shifts to cover the ambulance. Career staff take care of the day to day business of the fire district and provide response coverage during the week and on weekend days, when volunteers are more likely to be at work or have family commitments.

Our 30+ volunteers are the heart and soul of GCFD1. We couldn’t function without their dedicated service. While the community may see them as heroes, they see themselves as ordinary people…ordinary people doing extraordinary things. They are your friends and neighbors. They may be the person behind the counter, the farmer in the field, or the teenager walking down the street. They may be you!
